Which Job Should I Pursue?

How do I find my dream career. I have no idea what I would like to do one day. I am 21 and have to decide asap, but how do I choose what to do?

Response from Carl: Like you Yolandi, I also had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do with my career and there are certainly many other people who face the same dilemma.

Think about things that you like to do. If you can find something to do for a living that you like, you might not consider it so much a job and more something you genuinely enjoy doing. The fact you're getting paid for it makes it even better of course.

Think about things you are good at. What skills do you have that you could get paid for?

Speak with people in industries or who hold jobs that interest you. Speak with your friends, family, etc and ask them about their jobs and what they like/dislike about them. Ask your friends and family for advice as to what sorts of jobs they think you'd be good at. You don't have to take their advice of course but it just might help you to get some ideas.

While our early career decisions can impact our future career options, don't think that your decision now will rule how your career will work out in the long term. These days, people change jobs and industries more frequently than before. Besides, the way technology is going, there will be plenty of newly created positions that didn't even exist previously just like the Internet alone has created numerous jobs that were previously unavailable.
