What are the effects of unemployment?

Response from Carl: Hi Aya. Among other things unemployment can make it harder for you to get a new job the longer you're out of work as hiring managers often wonder why you can't find a job for an extended period of time. Obviously financial issues can arise the longer you're out of work as well as your income decreased and might in fact decrease to nothing. Unemployment can also lead people to get depressed and demotivated with their situation the longer they're out of work.

If you are unemployed right now, I'd suggest speaking with people you know to let them know you're looking for a job, network with others who can positively influence your job search, keep your resume updated and keep positive.

Also, consider directly contacting companies who you'd like to work for to see if they have job opportunities that might interest you.
