Response from Carl: Thanks Amy. It has been awhile since I was looking for my first summer job so I'll try to give some good suggestions!

Offhand, you might mention that you have references available upon request. I'd suggest contacting a teacher(s), perhaps an adult neighbor or two, those sorts of people. People who know you well and can speak about your personality and about the type of person you are. You might not even be asked for references but they're nice to have just in case.
