Self Improvement And Self Help Tips

What does self improvement mean?

Let me be honest with you: When I see websites or articles droning on about personal growth and personal reflection and things of that nature, I get bored really quickly and leave the site.

Let's talk about self improvement in real terms and what you might consider doing in your career if you feel you are not making the progress you'd like.

Ask yourself the following questions to find possible areas of improvement in your career. After each question, you'll see a link you can check out to help you find the answer.

  • Is your level of education holding you back? (Some companies only hire people with college degrees or other levels of education.)

Get information on how your education level can effect your career

  • Are you a good negotiator? (Are you leaving money on the table when negotiating a job offer?)

Get information on the job offer including negotiation.

  • Do you know when to say no? (Do people take advantage of you and dump extra work on your desk knowing you won't say no?)

  • Get information on various work problems.

  • Do you know how to write a solid cover letter? (Would you read your cover letter if you were a hiring manager and someone sent the same one to you?)

  • Get information on putting a great cover letter together.

  • Does your resume get you interviews? (If you aren't getting job interviews your resume might not be doing its job.)

  • Get information on putting a great resume together.

  • What job search techniques are you using? (Are you firing off resumes left, right and center or do you have an effective job search?)

  • Get information on effective job search techniques.

  • Do you have a focused job search? (Or do you often apply for jobs you aren't qualified for and have no hope of getting?)

  • Get some great job search tips to help you effectively look for new jobs.

  • When searching for a new job, do you keep using the same techniques over and over again? (And do you wonder why you keep getting the same crummy results?)

  • Get some career advice to help you manage your career for the long term.

  • What interview mistakes are you making? (Some "little" mistakes can cost you jobs. Which mistakes are you making?)

  • Get some job interview advice to help you perform effectively when the job is on the line.

  • Who do you get your job search and career advice from? (Want to talk to me about your career?)
