Resigning to go back to school

Comments from Carl: Perhaps you've decided to resign to go back to school. In this case, while you want to leave on good terms without burning any bridges, you might as well also try to leave the door open to return to this company once your schooling is completed.

Perhaps returning to this company is the furthest thing from your mind currently but things change and maybe you'll decide that going back makes sense. As usual, at a minimum you'll probably need your old manager and colleagues for a reference check too, so there's another reason to leave the company on good terms.
