Request for a shorter notice period resignation letter

Comments from Carl: Sometimes you might need to leave work a bit quicker than what is stated in your work contract. Let's say you are required to give 3 weeks notice but you're expected to start your new job in 2 weeks (I've seen stuff like this happen.) What can you do to request a shorter notice period?

The first thing you could do is speak with your manager to get permission for a reduced notice period verbally and then follow up in writing with this letter which you can tailor for your specific needs.
