The Masters of Business Administration:
The MBA

The Masters of Business Administration (MBA) is one of most commonly known Masters degrees.

The MBA typically attracts those who already hold at least several years (or more) of work experience and who want to build upon their education and experience with theoretical business training.

Depending on the specific school you are applying to, acceptance in a Masters of Business Administration program typically involves a combination of your:

    1. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score

    2. Grades in your most recent college program

    3. Work experience

    4. Community involvement

    5. References

    6. A face to face interview.

This is not necessarily a complete list and schools might vary their application process.

An MBA can often provide you with an excellent complement to your undergraduate degree and help to make you more desirable when you are being considered for more senior positions and especially management roles and ones that involve skills in various business management functions.

While some MBAs offer a degree in General Management that require that you complete courses in a variety of functions (ie. Finance, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Human Resources, Communications, etc) some schools offer you the ability to specialize in disciplines such as:

Accounting
Business Law
Business Policy
Environmental Management
Finance
Information Systems
International Studies
Human Resources
Marketing
Operations
Organizational Behavior
Risk Management

Again, this is an incomplete list and specific schools will vary with regards to their offerings.

As time goes on, you will most likely have more options related to Electronic Commerce and other Internet-based studies.

Online MBA Program
While a traditional Masters of Business Administration program might not fit your schedule or budget, the online MBA might be more suitable for your situation.

Executive MBA Program
The Executive MBA program is also know as the Executive MBA or simply EMBA and is targeted to seasoned business professionals who want to improve their education and have money to spend.

Online Executive MBA
An online Executive MBA or online EMBA can be a viable alternative to getting your MBA in person in a traditional Master of Business Administration program or in a traditional EMBA program.
