After earning my Masters degree in Counseling what type of job can I get?

Answer from Carl: In general terms, a Master in Counseling might be a requirement to get various professional counseling jobs - which I suspect is what interested you in the degree in the first place - but it could also open doors for you in the teaching profession, too.

Since you are earning your Masters, I'd be interested to know what kind of undergraduate degree you received to see if that might indicate what area(s) you are interested in pursuing. You also didn't mention if you took a specialty in your Masters program which also might be leading you in one direction over another.

To get specifics on what kinds of jobs are available to you, I suspect your college or faculty career office should be able to point you in the right direction of resources that will help you learn more about what sorts of jobs are available to you.

Speak with your instructors or professors who hold this designation and to see if teaching is something you might be interested in since this might be one option to look at if you're so inclined.

See if they can point you in the direction of past graduates of your Masters program to speak with them regarding what they do for a living. I always think that speaking with people who have gone before you and graduated with the same degree you have is the best way to go since they've already been where you are now, and probably had the same questions you did.
