Master of Education Degree
A Master of Education or Masters in Education is a post graduate degree that enable teachers to continue their own education while working as an education provider.
In general terms the program helps teachers who are already teaching (or are already certified to teach) to further their own education with regards to the teaching profession.
The designation might also be appealing to trainers, instructors or other educational providers who don't necessarily work in a school.
Among other things, this designation might help a teacher to become more familiar with the latest in teaching methodologies and to provide specific training in various content areas, curriculum design, etc.
As with other degrees, while having the degree may not guarantee that you'll get a job, it could provide you with an increase in salary and possibly better opportunities throughout your career.
Having a Master of Education could provide you with a better salary than you might receive without the designation although simply holding the designation doesn't guarantee it.
At a minimum it can help you to become current with the latest in educational theories and training especially if you completed your Bachelor of Education degree many years ago.
While some available programs might be offered as fulltime ones, there are also part-time options available that recognize that you might already be teaching fulltime and also online programs that can be completed through web-based teaching.
