Life is unfair

I work at a family owned grocery store. You can see favoritism everywhere you look, its so strong you can taste it. There are many employees who are related to or are very good friends with the supervisors,and receive special treatment. The supervisors chose breaks, and of course the "favorites" always go first, and never get in trouble when they take an extra long break. Also, when we are really slow, they send people home. Though only certain people get that luxury, of getting to leave early. I have currently worked here for 7 months. There was a girl who was recently hired and has worked there for 3 months. She gets more hours then everyone else, and has recently received a promotion. It's not hard to figure out, that she has became close friends with the "Higher ups".I know that boss sees whats going on, but apparently he really doesn't care. He never does anything when he should, he never fires or punishes people. In conclusion, it would take way to long to list every act of favoritism that goes on in this place. I am currently looking for a new job, because I am not going to put up with it anymore.

Response from Carl: Thanks Taelor. I think your title "life is unfair" hit the nail on the head. Life certainly can be unfair from time time can't it?

Your opening line probably sums it up to when you start by mentioning "I work at a family owned..." because in my experience a lot of favoritism seems to occur at family-owned businesses especially ones where family members are employed there.

From what you mention, you're ready to get a new job elsewhere so good for you for taking the reins and getting a fresh start somewhere else.
