if your manager is no longer with the company what kind of questions will they ask HR?

My potential employer called a previous company for references and as a result, both my managers have gone. What is HR entitled to communicate?

Are you not able to track down either or both of these former managers through the Internet or through an email address or phone number? try your best to keep in touch with people like this who might come in handy in the future for reference check purposes as you're finding out now.

HR - unless you had a close working relationship with them - might only be able to confirm basic things like how long you worked there, what your attendance was like, things of that nature. They might not be able to answer specific questions that your potential new employer would like to ask you about.
