Why Is The Hiring Decision Made?

How is a hiring decision made?

In other words why are some people hired and other people rejected?

Understanding why a company hires someone can go along way to job search success.

Ever wonder how a company eliminates (ie. lays off) staff and still gets the work done?

Fewer people doing more work is the norm these days as companies reduce headcount, send work overseas to third world countries and hire fewer fulltime staff and more contractors.

A company hires someone because they have a problem that they need solved and increasingly they will only hire someone if it results in a net positive effect on the company.

In other words, if the position isn’t profitable to the company in some way (increased profitability, decreased costs, or both) they won’t fill the position.

People get hired when they show the hiring manager can solve the problem(s) that the company has.

If the company feels they can do without the problem-solving abilities of other people, they might lay them off.

Companies often have to produce more with fewer staff and if you can’t display your ability to make them money or save them money or ideally both, why would they hire you?

If you're already working for them, why would they keep you?

Take command of your career by showing hiring managers what you will do for them to increase their profits and save them money.

Show them what you have done in your career recently to accomplish both.
