Full charge Bookkeeper with experience in office management

Seeking position that will enable me to utilize my 25+ years of experience and knowledge in bookkeeping and office management.

Response from Carl: Thanks Jo. As I mentioned to a lady last week who mentioned her 30 years of customer support experience, some hiring managers can get scared away from candidates who mention significant (ie. 20 years+) of experience.

I've seen hiring managers who see the number of years of experience that a candidate has and immediately concludes the person is too experienced so I'd just be careful about announcing your years of experience up front especially if you're seeing jobs that perhaps call for 10 years of experience or less. Now in these instances, perhaps the jobs are too junior for you but in other cases, perhaps your amount of experience would be just fine but I have seen many cases where the total experience that a person has ends up being used against them, as odd as that sounds.

If you're getting interviews with no problem, then ignore my advice but if you're finding it difficult to get interviews, you might at least consider taking out the specific number of years of experience to avoid having it held against you.
