Expenses

I have paid upfront expenses, and the boss has refused to pay me, saying he is not quibbling about £200.00 and you ain't getting it! What can an employee do in such a situation?

Response from Carl: One thing you don't mention Margaret are the exact circumstances here i.e. what were the expenses for? Were you told ahead of time (in writing or verbally?) that you'd be reimbursed for them and things of that nature.

You also don't mention who the boss is. If your boss is an employee perhaps you can go over their head (i.e. HR) to get your money back although your boss clearly won't like that. If the boss is the owner and is this unreasonable, perhaps there is little you can do to get the money back although if that's the case and you were promised to be reimbursed you'd have to think about how badly you want to work for such a person.
