Desperation

I went for an interview when I was frustrated and curious to get something, but unfortunately I was not given the job because the interviewer could read it from me that I was desperate for the job because my qualification was far beyond the job description so he sensed it and he told me that he would get back to me.

Response from Carl: Thanks Hezy. As a recruiter, I can often tell when someone is desperate to change jobs too. You feel bad because someone needs a job but unfortunately it often comes across during the interview and interviewers can see that the person is desperate and since desperation is not a good trait, it almost always hurts you in this regard.

The biggest fear that employers usually have with hiring someone who is desperate for a job is that they'll hire the wrong person and after a few months, the person will quit for another job which of course will force the hiring manager to hire a new person which they'd obviously prefer not to do.

As you mentioned, applying for jobs that are too junior for you is one sign that a person is desperate. The best thing you can do is apply for jobs that suit your skills and experience and go into the interview with confidence.
