Clerical - Customer Service
by Sue
Response from Carl: Thanks Sue. Since you have significant experience, you might want to tailor your objective depending on what job you're applying for to mention what type of job you desire. With your years of experience, a hiring manager might automatically assume for example that you'd be suitable for a management position when perhaps you're really after a clerical-type role that involves no management. Just a quick thought, too: Having 30 years of experience can certainly be beneficial but in the minds of some hiring managers, seeing this number might cause them to view you as being too experienced for some jobs you're applying for that might really be a good fit in actuality. If you're having success with your job search and are getting interviews, then perhaps this isn't an issue but if you're finding you're not getting the response you had hoped for, you might try leaving out the exact number of years of experience from your career objective so as to not prejudice yourself in the eyes of a hiring manager who might think that their job is too junior for you. Again, just a thought! Carl |
