BLONDE BUBBLY AND BEAUTIFUL

by Stacia
(Pennsylvania)

I am in a position right now where I have to compete for hours with other employees. One in particular girl is a blonde bubbly type of girl. That is fine that she looks like that, but she gets what she wants by being fake and a gossip. I am confident in the fact that I am one of the best employees my company has and they have told me this several times. This girl gets more hours and more shifts when I have a record of better job performance. I will say that it hurts me everytime it happens. I do like the job, but the favoritism really has an effect on me. Maybe I should dye my hair, grow a couple inches, and get a boob job. Do the nice people always finish last????

Response from Carl: Thanks for the submission, Stacia.

Just a thought: have you already made it apparent to your superiors that you'd like more hours? Just be sure that they know you want more hours and even if they do know, you might reiterate it to help them get the message just to be sure they haven't somehow misconstrued things and believe that you're happy with the hours you're getting. In a polite but firm way, sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Before you accuse anyone of favoritism, I'd make sure they know I'd like more hours and more shifts first.

If this doesn't work, who can you approach (ie. manager, or whoever sets the hours, etc.) to get an explanation of why you're not getting more hours?

I'd be interested to know exactly what the explanation is for any favorable treatment especially if you have the superior job performance. This is probably something you'd want to mention if you don't get the answer you're looking for. If you're not doing something right that you're not aware of, I'm sure you'd like to know.
