Annoying

Okay, So I work at a store. I just started working there and I've had no problems but I noticed my boss practices favoritism and its really bugging me. For example: I have a co-worker that is around the same age as me (18~20) and she asked my boss if she could dye her hair purple? And she also asked if there was a store policy against it and her told her that there was no policy against it and that she could do it. I heard this conversation because my co-worker asked my boss in front of me because she knows I'm learning hair design (she wanted me to dye it for her). Since I had heard that there was no policy I took advantage and decided to dye some parts of my hair blue but it wasn't real noticeable. But when I went to work the following day my boss got mad at me and told me I had to take off the color because it wasn't allowed. So I really don't understand!! Was he only allowing her to do it or what? I don't think that's fair and I consider it favoritism on his behalf. :/ Does someone concur?

Response from Carl: Thanks Hoolpa. Based on what you mention I guess it's possible that there is favoritism going on but I guess the first thing to do would be to ask your boss why the other person could dye their hair a funky color and you weren't. Business often have dress standards that include how their employees look but why they'd enforce it for one person and not the other, I'm not sure.
