Administrative Assistant
by Debra
Response from Carl: Thanks Debra. I'd replace the "challenging career" part with something else that a reader (ie. hiring manager) would want to see in a person they'd consider hiring as an Administrative Assistant. Given that you have 20 years of experience, you need to elaborate a bit on what you bring to the table in such a role. Let us know what special skills or experience you have whether computer skills, phone skills, or other experience that is related to the position that a potential hiring manager would want to have. Certainly if you're applying for a specific job there might be specific items you could mention but in general terms I'd think that indicating your level of expertise with technology for example would be a good start since these days the person you'd be working for might be using many different types. If you've worked in large environments and are applying for a job in a large corporation or if you're applying for a job in a small company and have experience here, I'd mention it here just to let the reader know that you've worked in their type of world before. I recall in recruitment seeing numerous cases where a hiring manager would look at a person's resume and not think they were suitable for the job because they didn't indicate quickly enough (or at all) in their resume that they'd "fit" in their organization based on how they described their previous and recent work experience. You want to let the reader know that you are capable of working in their world and understand their business. Carl |
